All New Content to be Available on the Platform in June

VUit, a free, ad-supported national streaming service aiming to be the “Netflix of Live, Local, and Free,” announced today the addition of exciting, new hyperlocal programming. Weather Metrics Vision, known as WM Vision, is available today on VUit and will bring live content and lapse videos of weather events to viewers from around the country.  Meanwhile, Small Batch Sessions, available now, will feature top musical talent based in the U.S., while fashion vodcaster Mermaid Soup will broadcast the fashion trends coming out of Los Angeles, California when it launches on the service shortly.  VUit has also entered an agreement with the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, to bring their historical content focused on the automotive industry to the platform soon as well.

Since its launch last year, VUit has found that the interest in hyperlocal news and programming continues to be on the rise.  For example, the service featured the Big Rig Challenge from Onaway Speedway in Michigan last September attracting viewers in 50 markets while high school football games played in Eastern Iowa attracted fans from 108 markets.  In March, VUit’s stream of the official start of Iditarod 2021 from Anchorage, Alaska, attracted viewers from 178 markets, representing 85% of the nation.  Most recently, a VUit broadcast on May 30th of a local high school graduation in Marion, Iowa reached 65 DMAs.  VUit carries more than 200 local TV channels along with a range of themed curated feature channels across politics, sports, food, business, entertainment and culture.

Jack Perry, founder & CEO of Syncbak, VUit’s parent company, said, “We continue to see an appetite for locally-focused programming, well beyond news events, with viewers tuning into shows across the arts, culture, and sports produced out of local markets across the country.  With the addition of these new programs, we’re looking forward to providing viewers with an even closer look at the rich tapestry that makes up our towns around the U.S.”

Among the new programming and channels launching this month on the service are:

  • WMVision (Weather Metrics Vision): VUit is broadcasting a mix of 12-hour time lapse videos and live footage from awesome weather events taking place across the country.  Soon, VUit will also add live feeds from individual cameras within WMVision’s network as well.
  • Mermaid Soup: Los Angeles-based fashion vodcaster Ariel Campbell will be creating a brand-new podcast especially for VUit giving viewers an inside scoop on the hottest trends coming out of LA.  The show will be available on VUit’s podcast channel.
  • Small Batch Sessions:. Small Batch Sessions brings their cameras to live shows around northwest Illinois and surrounding areas bringing into sharp focus the amazing stream of talent coursing through the area. Featuring both local and nationally touring acts, these episodes offer a rare opportunity to catch these bright stars performing in spaces ranging from intimate venues to outdoors.
  • Henry Ford Museum: The Henry Ford Museum will broadcast on VUit a series of episodes that highlight American history and culture as well as automotive innovation.
